Wir der Client gestartet, so prüft dieser automatisch ob auf dem SmartNotes-Server ein Client einer höheren Version vorliegt.

Wenn dies der Fall ist, dann wird dieser vom Server kopiert und in dem Verzeichnis  C:\Users\BENUTZER.NAME\AppData\Local abgelegt. Die Konfigurationsdatei des alten Client wird in das neue Verzeichnis kopiert und der neue Client wird gestartet.

Die Prüfung der Client-Version erfolgt danach bei jedem Start, ein Kopieren erfolgt aber nicht mehr, solange die Version gleich bleibt.

• Ein schreibender Zugriff auf das Verzeichnis C:\Users\BENUTZER.NAME\AppData\Local
• Der aktuell installierte Client muss größer als die Version 2.8.1.66 sein.
• Die IP-Adresse und der Port der neuen Server-Version müssen von der vorherigen übernommen werden
• In der Konfigurationsdatei des Client darf das automatische Update nicht durch den Eintrag <add key="DisableAutoUpdate" value="True" /> ausgeschaltet werden.

Im Anmelde-Fenster erscheinen zwei Versionsangaben, wobei die ältere Version in Klammern dargestellt wird.

In dem Beispiel bedeutet:

• 2.8.1.33 Diese Version wird aktuell vom Client verwendet.
• 2.8.1.11 Dies ist der ursprüngliche Client, der automatisch aktualisiert wurde.

Zusätzlich zum Auto-Upgrade des Clients steht ab Version 2.9.0.176 auch das Auto-Downgrade zur Verfügung.

Diese Funktion können Sie beispielsweise einsetzen, falls Sie nach einem Update einen Fehler feststellen und dringend wieder auf die vorherige Version umsteigen müssen. Hierbei würde dann das Löschen und Neuinstallieren der lokalen Clients wegfallen. Sie starten einfach wie gewohnt. Ebenso nutzen wir dieses Feature für unsere Hosting-Kunden, um im Falle eines festgestellten Fehlers schnell auf die alte Version umstellen zu können.

Hierzu müssen innerhalb von SmartNotes keine weiteren Anpassungen vorgenommen werden. Sie starten einfach den bestehenden Client gegen den Server. Stellt der Client eine ältere Serverversion fest, wird diese im Hintergrund heruntergeladen und gestartet. Wird der Server auf einer anderen Version installiert, lädt der Client diese herunter.

If the client is started, it automatically checks if there is a client of a higher version on the SmartNotes server.

The client version is checked at every startup after that, but copying is not done as long as the version remains the same.

• The currently installed client must greater than version 2.8.1.66
• The IP address and port of the new server version must be taken from the previous one
• In the client configuration file, automatic update must not be disabled by the <add key="DisableAutoUpdate" value="True" /> entry.

Two versions appear in the login window, with the older version shown in parentheses.

In the example means:

• 2.8.1.33 This version is currently used by the client.
• 2.8.1.11 This is the original client that was automatically updated.

In addition to the auto-upgrade of the client, the auto-downgrade is also available as of version 2.9.0.176.

You can use this function, for example, if you discover an error after an update and urgently need to switch back to the previous version. This would then eliminate the need to delete and reinstall the local clients. You simply start as usual. We also use this feature for our hosting customers to be able to quickly switch to the old version in case of a detected error.

For this purpose, no further adjustments have to be made within SmartNotes. You simply start the existing client against the server. If the client detects an older server version, it will be downloaded and started in the background. If the server is installed on a different version, the client downloads it.
