As a user, you want to assign an XBRL continuation with as few clicks and dialogues as possible so that you can use the function clearly, comfortably and intuitively. Until now, you had to double-click in the Continue field.

This dialogue has now been revised somewhat and the assignment of the continuation is now more effective.

With the new version it is possible to distinguish between "Tag paragraph" and "Tag selection". By selecting "Tag paragraph", the entire paragraph in which the marked area is located is tagged. With "Tag selection", only the marked text passage is tagged with a text block tag.

There is always the Word problem that paragraphs which already have a tag are not tagged correctly. The content controls (content controls that represent the tags) from the existing tags are not included when the text is simply marked. The reason for this is the content controls: If the content controls of the existing tag are not fully included, the new content control is only shrunk to the first paragraph. This can also be done outside SmartNotes and is a Word problem.

The function "Tag paragraph" circumvents this problem. The selection is extended to the necessary content controls in order to be able to tag the entire area.

The use of the Word function "Design Mode" is essential when working with text block tags. Until now, it was always necessary to switch on the developer tools in the menu bar to be able to call it up. Now we have also implemented the Design Mode in our SmartNotes drop-down menu. This way you can quickly find the function and do not have to activate any other menus in Word.
