Beim Einspielen eines Schnipsels in das entsprechende Kapitel der Zweitsprache werden die vorhandenen Ausgabebereiche automatisch durch die in Excel vorhandenen Ausgabebereiche der Zweitsprache ersetzt. Gleiches gilt für Fließtextzahlen, auch diese werden automatisch auf ihr „Pedant“ der Zweitsprache umgebogen. Die Übersetzung der Fließtexte müssen Sie zwar immer noch selbstständig vornehmen, aber die komplette Schnipselanlage, inkl. Layouting übernimmt SmartNotes für Sie. Mehr dazu finden Sie unter „/wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6219684".

Hierbei handelt es sich um eine Erweiterung der Übersetzungsfunktion. Ein Teil von Ihnen lassen Ihre Ergebnisdokumente von einem externen Übersetzer in eine zweite oder dritte Sprache überführen. Durch den /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6226421von ganzen Ergebnisdokumenten ist es jetzt möglich, diese übersetzten Dokumente in die jeweiligen Sprachen in SmartNotes zu importieren. Dabei wird das Gesamtdokument wieder auf die jeweiligen Schnipsel, analog zur Defaultsprache, aufgeteilt. Damit stehen auch bei externer Übersetzung nicht nur die Default-, sondern auch die übersetzten Dokumente in SmartNotes zur Verfügung. Eine externe Dokumentation oder Archivierung entfällt.

Mit der neuen Version können Sie Schnipsel, Teildokumente oder auch ganz Dokumente auf den Teams-Sharepoint auslagern  und dort bearbeiten. Im Anschluss können diese dann wieder nach SmartNotes /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6226421 werden. Damit kann ein extern stattfindender Reviewprozess weiter optimiert und die Änderungen und Kommentare können direkt nach SmartNotes zurückgespielt werden.

Dem Excel-Gesundheitscheck haben wir jetzt den /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6220449 zur Seite gestellt.

In älteren SmartNotes 2.8 Versionen konnte es passieren, dass einzelne Schnipsel nicht mehr direkt geöffnet werden konnte. Das lag z.B. an der Verwendung von Smileys in den Kommentaren oder geschützte Trennstriche in Excel.

Alle in dem Zusammenhang bekannten Probleme wurden gefixt. Der Gesundheitscheck sorgt dafür, dass wir bei ähnlich gelagerten Fällen die Ursache sehr schnell identifzieren und damit fixen können.

In den Einstellungen können jetzt auch durch Excel gerundete -0 Werte automatisch vom neuen Parser in einen beliebigen Wert oder Text umgewandelt werden, beispielsweise durch eine Null. Mehr Infos gibt es /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6225468. 

Erstmals bietet SmartNotes die Möglichkeit der 2 Faktor Authentifizierung bei der Anmeldung. Wie diese eingerichtet und genutzt wird, finden Sie /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6217938.

Einige Datenverarbeitungsfunktionen beim Import waren ein wenig umständlich, beispielsweise das Spaltenzählen bei der Nutzung der Join-Funktion. Diese Funktion kann nun mittels Drop-Down Menü bequemer genutzt werden, es werden gleich alle Spalten übersichtlich angezeigt. Welche Verarbeitungsfunktionen durch die Neuerung betroffen sind, finden Sie /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6228891.

Mit der 2.9 wurde auch eine Option des /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6225860 eingebaut. Diese Funktion zwingt den Parser dazu, dem Nutzer laufend Statusmeldungen zu geben, beispielsweise ob eine Datei richtig geöffnet wurde oder ob alle Zahlen korrekt geladen worden sind. Diese Funktion ist nicht zur dauerhaften Nutzung während der produktiven Arbeit in SmartNotes gedacht, sondern zur schnelleren Fehlersuche. So können wir zukünftig viel schneller Fehler lokalisieren und Lösungen finden.

Hier wurde massiv an der Performance gearbeitet, so dass der Datenaustausch zwischen dem ActiveDirectory und SmartNotes wesentlich schneller abläuft.

Sämtliche Performanceverbesserungen haben wir nicht nur der neuen SmartNotes Version 2.9 angedeihen lassen, sondern auch parallel in die SmartNotes 2.8 Versionen integriert. Im Detail sind das:

• Die Beseitigung des Garbage-Collector Flaschenhalses, hierbei konnten Dokumente mit sehr vielen Excel-Dateien und mehr als 30 parallelen Usern ausgebremst werden
• Die serverseitige Erstellung der Ergebnisdokumente wurde optimiert, indem das Zusammenfügen der einzelnen Schnipsel jetzt wesentlich performanter läuft. Achten Sie einmal auf die Laufzeiten in der Remote Worker Übersicht.
• Die clientseitige Erstellung Ergebnisdokumente wurde optimiert, so dass die clientseitige Nachbereitung viel effizienter läuft.

Die Layoutaktualisierung durch den LayoutRoboter wurde auf den Server verlagert und läuft jetzt wesentlich schneller ab. Wie der serverseitige Layoutroboter aktiviert wird, ist /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6225860 beschrieben.
Bitte beachten Sie, dass der serverseitige LayoutRoboter nur genutzt werden kann, wenn der LayoutRoboter als .xml-Datei hinterlegt ist.

Gerade Nutzer der LucaNet oder SAP-BW Schnittstelle kennen das. Ändert sich die Spaltenstruktur bzw. die Anzahl der Spalten in den Rohdaten, dann musste das Mapping bisher neu gepflegt werden. Das entfällt mit der Version 2.9, da sich SmartNotes die (technischen) Namen der Spalten merkt und die entsprechenden Mapping-Informationen wieder herstellt.

Früher kam es schonmal vor, dass es bei zu vollen Caches zu Performance-Problemen in SmartNotes kam. Dann musste den Caches mehr Platz eingeräumt und diese manuell hochgesetzt werden. Das entfällt mit der 2.9, da sich SmartNotes hier automatisch den Arbeitsspeicher nimmt, den es braucht.

Es kommt immer wieder vor, dass einzelne Tabellen nicht über die SmartNotes Logik, sondern über AddIns oder Links zu externen Excel-Dateien befüllt werden sollen. Bislang hat SmartNotes versucht, diese Dateien auf dem Server zu berechnen. Das musste aber fehlschlagen, weil die entsprechenden AddIns oder Links serverseitig nicht vorhanden waren. In Word wurde für die entsprechenden Zellen "#NAME" ausgegeben. Bislang konnte das nur geheilt werden, indem die Tabellen im XLS-Format abgespeichert wurden und damit eine Verwendung des alten Parsers erzwungen wurde.

Mit der Version 2.9 hat der Benutzer die Möglichkeit, die serverseitige Berechnung explizit abzuschalten. Dazu gibt es zwei Möglichkeiten:

• Wenn die Datei keine einzige /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6227580 enthält, wird die Datei nicht mehr auf dem Server berechnet.
• Wenn die Datei mindestens eine /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6225943 enthält, wird die Datei ebenfalls nicht mehr serverseitig berechnet.

Hierdurch kann auch für diese Dateien der neue Parser verwendet werden, es ist kein Umstieg auf den alten Parser erforderlich.

When a snippet is imported into the corresponding chapter of the second language, the existing output areas are automatically replaced by the output areas of the second language that exist in Excel. The same applies to continuous text figures; these are also automatically converted to their "pedant" of the second language. You still have to translate the continuous text yourself, but SmartNotes takes care of the complete snippet creation, including layouting.

This is an extension of the translation function. Some of you have your result documents translated into a second or third language by an external translator. By /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6226421 entire result documents, it is now possible to import these translated documents into the respective languages in SmartNotes. In doing so, the entire document is again divided into the respective snippets, analogous to the default language. Thus, even with external translation, not only the default but also the translated documents are available in SmartNotes. There is no need for external documentation or archiving.

With the new version, you can outsource snippets, partial documents or even entire documents to Teams Sharepoint and edit them there. Afterwards, these can be /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6226421 into SmartNotes. In this way, an external review process can be further optimised and the changes and comments can be directly imported back into SmartNotes.

We have now added the /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6220449 to the Excel health check.

In older SmartNotes 2.8 versions it could happen that individual snippets could no longer be opened directly. This was due, for example, to the use of smileys in comments or protected hyphens in Excel.

All known problems in this context have been fixed. The sanity check ensures that we can identify the cause of similar cases very quickly and thus fix them.

In the settings, -0 values rounded by Excel can now automatically be converted by the new parser into any value or text, for example a zero. More information can be found /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6225468. 

For the first time, SmartNotes offers the option of 2-factor authentication when logging in. You can find out how to set this up and use it /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6217938.

Some data processing functions during import were a little cumbersome, for example counting columns when using the join function. This function can now be used more conveniently by means of a drop-down menu, and all columns are displayed clearly.

With 2.9, an option of /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6225860 was also built in. This function forces the parser to continuously give the user status messages, for example whether a file has been opened correctly or whether all numbers have been loaded correctly. This function is not intended for permanent use during productive work in SmartNotes, but for faster troubleshooting. In this way, we will be able to locate errors and find solutions much more quickly in the future.

Here, massive work has been done on performance, so that the data exchange between the ActiveDirectory and SmartNotes runs much faster.

All performance improvements have not only been applied to the new SmartNotes version 2.9, but have also been integrated into the SmartNotes 2.8 versions in parallel. In detail these are:

• The elimination of the garbage collector bottleneck, where documents with a large number of Excel files and more than 30 parallel users could be slowed down.
  The server-side creation of the result documents has been optimised in that the merging of the individual snippets now runs much more efficiently. Take a look at the runtimes in the Remote Worker Overview.
  The client-side creation of result documents has been optimised so that the client-side post-processing runs much more efficiently.

The layout update by the layout robot has been moved to the server and now runs much faster. How to activate the server-side layout robot is described /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6225860.

Please note that the server-side LayoutRobot can only be used if the LayoutRobot is stored as an .xml file. 

Users of the LucaNet or SAP-BW interface are particularly familiar with this. If the column structure or the number of columns in the raw data changes, the mapping previously had to be maintained again. This is no longer necessary with version 2.9, as SmartNotes remembers the (technical) names of the columns and restores the corresponding mapping information.

In the past, it sometimes happened that too full caches caused performance problems in SmartNotes. Then the caches had to be given more space and manually increased. This is no longer the case with 2.9, as SmartNotes automatically takes the memory it needs.

It happens again and again that individual tables are not to be filled via the SmartNotes logic, but via AddIns or links to external Excel files. Up to now, SmartNotes has tried to calculate these files on the server. However, this had to fail because the corresponding AddIns or links were not available on the server side. In Word, "#NAME" was output for the corresponding cells. Until now, this could only be cured by saving the tables in XLS format and thus forcing the use of the old parser.

With version 2.9, the user has the option to explicitly switch off the server-side calculation. There are two ways to do this:

• If the file does not contain a single /wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6227580, the file is no longer calculated on the server.
• If the file contains at least one/wiki/spaces/SND/pages/6225943, the file is also no longer calculated on the server side.

This means that the new parser can also be used for these files; it is not necessary to switch to the old parser.
