GTC Suite: Upcoming technical changes

General Information

The following information is relevant for you if you are using at least one of the following modules and are not using AMANA hosting.

GTC Suite Modules

  • Portal

  • Tax Data Hub

  • Tax Transfer Hub

  • DAC 6

  • Income Taxes (incl. Tax Questionnaire, Tax Risk Management, Compliance; formerly GlobalTaxCenter)

  • Tax Balance

  • VAT@GTC

The following dispatch modules are optional components of the GTC Suite, depending on the application:

  • Tax Transfer DE (Germany)

  • Tax Transfer ELMA (Germany)

  • Tax Transfer AT (Austria)

  • Tax Transfer NL (Netherlands)

Transmissions to the German tax authorities

The "Transfer Client" product was previously used to transmit tax forms electronically to the German tax authorities. In the GTC Suite, this task is performed by the more modern "Tax Transfer DE".
As all AMANA Tax products will be integrated into the GTC Suite in future, support for the legacy "Transfer Client" product will be discontinued in 2024.

The specialised modules "Income Taxes" ( in this case "Tax Return") and "VAT@GTC" will therefore be converted in 2024 so that they work together with the new transfer module “Tax Transfer DE”.

VAT@GTC

From version 25 in January 2025, the connection to the portal will be mandatory. In addition, the new "Tax Transfer DE" will be required instead of the "TransferClient" for transmission to the tax authorities in Germany. The "Tax Transfer Hub" module may also be added.

Income Taxes ( in this case "Tax Return")

With the version 25 that will be released in January 2025, it will be necessary to switch to the new “Tax Transfer DE” module for electronic transmissions and thus also to integrate it into the GTC Suite (connection to the “Portal” module). The version will be made available for the purposes of capital gains tax registration in 2025 (only relevant for Germany).

If you do not require this version, you will probably be able to submit electronically to the German tax authorities with an Income Taxes version 24.x until the end of April 2025 (ERiC minimum version increase).

Are you still using the Income Taxes module "standalone"? Please plan a migration to the GTC Suite in good time. Please feel free to contact our hotline.

Databases

MySQL

With the versions that will be released in 2024 (24.1 ff.), support for the MySQL database is completely terminated.

Until 2023, MySQL was only supported for existing customers in the Income Taxes (including Tax Questionnaire, Tax Risk Management and Compliance) modules (formerly GlobalTaxCenter). This support will end with Income Taxes version 24.1 (expected mid-May 2024).

Customers who are still using MySQL and want to switch to Income Taxes version 24.1 must migrate to MS SQL. AMANA is happy to provide support. Please contact our hotline.

Oracle

2024 will be the last year in which Oracle will be supported as a database for any module of the GTC Suite.

If you are using Oracle for one or more modules, please plan time now to migrate from Oracle to MS SQL. AMANA will be happy to assist you. Please feel free to contact our hotline.

MS SQL

Please note that MS SQL 2019 must be used as a minimum requirement for the versions (24 ff.) that will be released this year. This applies to all modules of the GTC Suite.

Tomcat webserver

Tomcat 9.x must currently be used for all modules except Tax Balance. The modules will gradually be converted to Tomcat 10.1.

The Portal, Tax Data Hub and Tax Transfer Hub modules will be the first to start. These will require a Tomcat 10.1 installation from the 24 versions (release date expected in May 2024).

As a rule, the business modules (DAC 6, Income Taxes, VAT@GTC) should be set up in their own Tomcat installations. In this case, only the Tomcat on which the portal (and possibly Tax Data Hub and Tax Transfer Hub) is set up may be updated to Tomcat version 10.1.

If you are running the portal and business module in a Tomcat, you must install an additional Tomcat 10.1 as a temporary step and move the portal module (and Tax Data Hub and Tax Transfer Hub, if applicable) to it.
