With version 2.9, 2-factor authentication (2FA) was also built into SmartNotes. The check mark can be set for a user in the user administration. To use the 2FA in SmartNotes, a mobile phone and an authentication app are required. SmartNotes 2FA is compatible with all common authentication apps (e.g. Microsoft or Google).

First, the 2FA access must be activated. To do this, open the and edit the user. Then the check mark for 2FA is set. This selection must be made for each user.

As soon as the check mark is set, this is displayed in the overview under "F2A Enabled".

The next time the user logs in, he or she is asked to scan a QR code. This can usually be done via the camera of the mobile phone, the installed Authenticator App is then automatically offered and can be selected.

The Authenticator App now displays the account "AMANA SmartNotes" and the corresponding user name. Below this is a 6-digit code that renews itself every 30 seconds. This code must be entered in the input field.

After the initial setup, the password and the 6-digit code from the Authenticator App must now be entered to start SmartNotes.

If the 2FA needs to be reset, for example due to the loss or damage of the mobile phone, this can be done via the user administration. The password can be reset by editing the user. This function resets not only the password but also the 2 factor authentication.
