In addition to the standard procedure of opening a single Word file, it is also possible to open and edit several Word files simultaneously in composite form in the same instance as one document. This so-called "Multi-CheckOut" is also done via the context menu in the cockpit. First, several chapters with Word files are marked and then the context menu is called up with a right click in the marked area. The menu item "Edit selected Word files" instructs SmartNotes to assemble all marked Word files in a Word instance as one document. This function should only be used to set text marks and cross references. For changes in content, we recommend editing the Word files individually. To display the output areas of an Excel file at the desired positions in the result document, they are inserted in the corresponding Word files at the selected positions. In addition, individual report values of the Excel files can be referenced in the continuous text. This ensures that changes to the database [e.g. by importing current data from the consolidation system] are also reflected in the Word files. In this way, the most current existing report values can be automatically processed when generating a result document.
